More of the from the talking guide EP Library Facts has uncovered and even more misinformation and appropriation.
Save our Director / Save our Library!
Have you ever had a co-worker or acquaintance that likes to take credit for something YOU did? That’s what’s happening here! EPLibraryFact hasn’t seen such co-adoption since Al Gore took credit for creating the internet or Anthony Fauci claimed to be science!!! What will they take credit for next, the Taste of Elmwood Park?
There are 7 trustees, yet this group has the self-delusion to think their public comments (from the same 2-3 people) along with a single trustee has managed to impact the voting of the other 6 trustees.
Let’s address this delusion for each.
Protecting youth access- Board minutes show the full board voted to adjust this policy (which was only being enforced when young patrons were causing trouble.) Trustee Fosco was particularly instrumental in having this policy adjusted based on his work with the Youth Commission.
Recorded board meetings- Audio recordings were always available for all meetings. Video was done to ensure complete recrodings were used (some attendees were recording meetings and posting snippets on social media to fit their narratives.)
Wasteful Spending- This contradicts point number 6 of securing funding. Regardless, in the most recent library survey taken at the Taste of Elmwood Park, the community showed overwhelming support for the local history room. EPPL has received state grants and local monetary donations to digitize their collection. Russ Parker, a retired librarian, has presented at library conferences over the collection. Not surprising that folks who have such little time living in our village don’t recognize the community’s appreciation for this. Perhaps they want to erase this history so they can re-write it. If you can’t get local history from your library, where will you get it?
Driving Data- Interesting they credit a recent trustee for the ‘Fact Based/Data Driven’ guidance all the other trustees gave the director long before this trustee was on the board. See the Nov 2022 FOIA request that shows this. There’s that ‘co-worker’ taking credit for something others did, yet again.
Expanding Programs- the biggest ‘Al Gore’ co-adoption example. Director Consiglio is the primary reason we have seen triple the number of programs across 2 years (and triple attendance.) With guidance provided by the trustees who hired him. THEY are the reason EPPL has seen such success.
Additional Funding- Again, primarily driven by Director Consiglio at the direction of the board and supported by the village thanks to the great results Director Consiglio has produced. Yet these folks are trying their hardest to get on the board and remove him.
